• Also known as vacuum flask or Büchner flask, have heavier glass walls than a standard conical flasks to endure effects of vacuum filtration.
• Sidearm with barbs extends 1 1/2" with a outside diameter of 1/2" allowing flexible hose solutions to a vacuum pump or system. Vacuum Hose with 1/2" ID is perfect for attaching to the Filter Flask.
• During filtration, the filtrate enters and is held in the flask while the sample or residue remains on the filter paper in the funnel.
• Filter Flask can also be used as a vacuum trap in a vacuum line.

Buying a filter flask and then a Buchner funnel is risky, they may fit together, but often they do not fit or seal, and sealing together is the critical issue. Filter Flasks, also known as Vacuum Flasks and Buchner Flasks, are handmade, therefore the exact dimensions of each filter flask and its neck can vary. Buchner Funnel can also vary in dimensions as drying methods and kiln time can impact final size. TN LAB Buchner Funnel Kits remove any doubts about fit and finish. We perform the following on each kit.

-Inspect the Buchner Funnel, a porcelain funnel, looking for: chips, cracks, voids, deformities in the sealing area, hole pattern, and glaze gloss. We also check the top edge, an area that must remain unglazed.

-Inspect the Filter Flask, made of Borosilicate 3.3 Glass, looking specifically for: bubbles, cracks, side arm position, opening symmetry and top inner edge definition.  

-Individually fit a Buchner funnel to a filter flask using rubber flask adapter(s) to ensure the two fit perfectly together with a tight seal. We may try different combinations of filter flasks and Buchner funnels until we get an acceptable fit.

We you receive a Buchner Funnel Kit the sealing adapter will already be installed on the funnel. This shows the best fit of the sealing adapter for vacuum filtration. Please remove the adapter before cleaning the filter flask and funnel prior to first use.
